Taylor Swift said she had to "fight" with her management team to record the title track for James Corden's new film, One Chance.
"I think this movie is so incredible, it's funny, it's adorable, it's heart-warming and I'm lucky to be a part of it," she said.
Swift recorded the song, Sweeter Than Fiction, which features in the end credits.
The film is based on the life of Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts.
"Anyone watching this film is going to be inspired to do something, to write a song, to go after what they want or to be supportive of someone they love who has a dream," the singer added.
Opera singer, Paul Potts, won the 2007 series of the talent show with a performance of Nessun Dorma.
Before taking part in the competition the British tenor worked as a manager in a mobile phone shop.
The 23-year-old said she had to convince her record label to allow her to write and record the track.
"I had to fight to do this because I try to take a break in between albums and try and give people a minute to not hear me on the radio," she said.
"I had to go around and ask people, 'Can I please, please put something out?' even though we're supposed to be going quiet."
Taylor Swift released Red, her fifth studio album, in 2012 and is now on a worldwide arena tour.
"My management, my label were like, 'No new music until the next album comes out.'
"Then I saw the movie and I was like, 'I have to be a part of this.'"
It has been a busy year for the US singer, who celebrated entering the 2014 Guinness World Records last month.
She had the fastest-selling digital single for We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.
Swift also received recognition for being the first solo female with two million selling weeks on the US album chart.
One Chance is released on 25 October.
